About CNLA
The Canadian Nursery and Landscape Association (CNLA) dates back to the 1922 formation of the Eastern Canada Nurserymen's Association, with members mainly comprised from Ontario and Quebec. Formerly the Canadian Nursery Trades Association, the Association was re-named in 1998 to better reflect the nature of its members. Today, the CNLA has an official constitution and is incorporated under the laws of The Canadian Corporations Act -- a reflection of their commitment to uphold the integrity of the landscape and horticulture industry.

Although the CNLA's purpose is to foster relationships and alliances with internal and external partners, the Association provides member certification and strives to help its members function more effectively. The CNLA provides training and qualifications to industry members through the Landscape Industry Certified designation.  Specialties include Technician, Retail Horticulturist, Designer and Manager -- certifications that are highly regarded throughout the industry. In addition to providing professional development opportunities, members can benefit from a range of advantages, including a copy of the membership directory and Canadian Standards for Nursery Stock as well as Landscape Trades which helps members to stay abreast of industry news and events. The CNLA advocates on behalf of the landscape and horticulture industry maintaining a presence in Ottawa on federal issues that affect the green industry factors that help to improve regulations and standards for the benefit of the consumer and the industry as a whole.

The Association is a national not-for-profit federation of nine provincial landscape and horticulture associations representing over 3,600 members in the landscape, retail garden centre, and nursery sectors.

Our Mission
The CNLA, with the Provincial Associations, will develop programs, undertake initiatives, and form alliances in order to achieve sustainable prosperity for members and stakeholders.

Our Vision
A prosperous, professional and ethical industry that is recognized, valued, and utilized by the public, as a result of the environmental, economic, and life-style benefits provided by our member's products and services.

The CNLA Board of Directors meet twice a year to discuss the overall operations of the association. One meeting takes place during the summer, usually in August. The second meeting takes place during the winter, usually in February.

The location of the meetings are determined well in advance and varies throughout the country. It has recently been decided that the winter board meeting will be held in conjunction with the National Awards of Landscape Excellence.

The upcoming Board meeting will be held in Charlottetown, PEI from Aug. 11-13, 2010.

The CNLA Board of Directors keep the issues and concerns of the members at top priority.
The Constitutions and ByLaws govern the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association.
The Association began in 1922 with the formation of the Eastern Canada Nurserymen's Association and has since grown to encompass nine provincial associations.
It is our sponsors that make it possible to offer special projects and events.
